During the winter period, in my daily professional life, I am frequently solicited by mothers wishing to have osteopathy sessions for their little one suffering from bronchiolitis.
Except that... in my opinion, osteopathy is ineffective in the treatment of bronchiolitis.
Its interest can be more useful post treatment of the disease. I will explain it later in the article.
Presentation
Bronchiolitis is a respiratory disease caused by an infection in babies with the respiratory syncitial virus (RSV). It is estimated that 500,000 infants will be affected each winter.
Treatment
The treatment must be done by a medicinal treatment prescribed by a pediatrician if he judges that it is necessary.
If the congestion is too important, your pediatrician will be able in certain cases to prescribe to your little one sessions of respiratory physiotherapy. These will be performed by physiotherapists specialized in pediatrics and not by pediatric osteopaths. I recommend you Aude Platevoet : physiotherapist Paris 16 at home tel: 06.62.30.38.71.
Bronchiolitis and osteopathy
Sometimes, these manipulations can cause "tension and loss of mobility" in the thoracic region of the baby (if the natural elastic return is not done correctly in this region). In this case, the pediatric osteopath can be consulted.
Osteopathic consultation that will be performed only when your baby has completed his conventional treatment.
