Why consult an osteopath when you are pregnant?

Pregnancy is a great event in a woman's life. At the body level, it represents an enormous upheaval. The body of the latter will have to adapt and meet the needs of the growth of the embryo and the fetus.

Osteopathy can prepare the body of the mother-to-be by checking the proper mobility of the pelvis and other parts of the body that are used during pregnancy and childbirth.

Sometimes, the mechanical constraints linked to the development of the baby can cause discomfort and pain in the pregnant woman. Such as lumbago, sciatica, heartburn, regurgitation, constipation, sleep disorders etc...

Osteopathy can provide gentle and natural relief for pregnant women.

This is not insignificant during pregnancy when most medications are not indicated.

But one must be careful, osteopathy as any health practice has its limits. This is why the choice of the osteopathic practitioner is essential. The latter must have the necessary medical knowledge to be able to treat the pregnant woman safely.

Osteopathic treatment is done from 12 weeks of pregnancy, the risk of miscarriage being too high during the first 3 months of pregnancy.

Of course, consulting an osteopath does not exempt you from talking to your gynecologist or midwife. On the contrary, he or she can also suggest conventional treatments that can be complementary to osteopathic treatment.
